Representatives from the NFL and United Way, founders of Character Playbook, an education initiative operated by EverFi that focuses on youth character development and building healthy relationships, visited the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to share the honor of ringing the Nasdaq stock market closing bell, along with 35 Students from I.S. 96 Seth Low School, a Brooklyn middle school implementing Character Playbook.
In honor of the occasion, Amani Toomer, former New York Giants WR and Super Bowl champion, rang the Closing Bell.
“It was an honor to join Amani Toomer and the wonderful students from Seth Low to ring the closing bell at the stock exchange today,” said Lisa Bowman, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at United Way Worldwide. “We’re so pleased that more than 32,000 students in 329 schools have already completed Character Playbook and we were committed to keep going until we reach our goal of providing character education to students all across America.”
The digital course is comprised of six interactive modules that support positive character development, social-emotional learning and healthy relationships for grades 7-9. The interactive digital program will be provided directly in schools throughout the 32 NFL markets across the country.
In addition, the current United Way / NFL Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver, Steve Smith, Sr. will be featured in Times Square on the 7-story tall NASDAQ video tower and marquis exclusively for one full hour after the closing bell.
